Individual Assignment ( Section 2 )

                                                                                           History of clock

Part 2 : Development

Nowadays clocks are divided into two kinds, the first kind is digital and the second is electronic.  The clock has been developed so that each clock consists of two main parts, the box and the internal tools.  The internal tools have three important jobs which are to show the time, keep accurate time and provide energy to keep the clock working.

Digital clocks display a numeric representation of time (Wikipedia, 2012).They has a lot of parts so they need for cleaning from time to time. Some of these clocks need to the wound every day, however others need this every week. However, electronic clocks work by battery and by electric current.

In the past clocks were not accurate or easy to carry, and so they had to be developed to be small and easy to carry. In the mid-17th century a clock was developed by using pendulum and balance spring.
People started use the electronic clock in the middle of 19 century. At that time there was also a new type of clock produced called the quartz. Later, in the 1940's scientists made the first atomic clock. Digital clocks became commonly used in the seventies. Silicon chips were also used in the twentieth century to help in time telling and are very accurate devices. (thinkquest, n.d)
