Individual Assignment ( Section1 )
History of
clock
Part
1: History
In the past, it was very difficult to tell time because there
was no machinery to calculate it. Then the
Egyptians invented a time calculation method or a stick, planted in
the ground to determine the time, by identifying the angel
of the movement of the sun. However, sundials were
not always useful because they did not work at the night. (thinkquest, n.d)
Also there was another
kind of time telling device invented, the hourglass. This clock consists
of a two glass bowls tied together by a small reed.
Its works as sand spilled from the top to the bottom. Over a period of time water was also used to
tell astronomical time. After that, they invented the clock, which is a
machine used to measure time. It was divided into two type's,
mechanical and digital. (thinkquest, n.d)
They still don't know
who invented the clock exactly, but there were several inventors,
each one of them invented different kind of clock. Gerbert Doureak invented the
first clock operated by gravity in 999 AD and a Dutch man called
Christian Huygens invented the first clock with a pendulum in
1657. Also later French Louis Cartier and Swiss Hans Azadrov invented the
first wristwatch in 1940. (wiki,n.d)
